Prickly Pear

"PRICKLY PEAR" Low Prickly Pear (Optuntia humifusa, Cactus Family) is the most widespread of several kinds of Prickly Pear that grow in Texas, it grows close to the ground and is not nearly as spiny as other varieties. The Ladybug or Convergent Ladybird Beetle is beneficial to crops and gardens because it preys on insects that damage these plants.
